In 1968 the topographical survey map shown above was the only available source for navigating the canyon.
As you can see it contained very little useful information about trekking or conditions.

By transcribing the 1968 plotting points and annotations onto a current satellite map it was possible to recreate a fairly accurate pictorial reference and history of the expeditions progress through the canyon.
